Our final day in Lapland meant a trip back to Santa’s Village. The downside was that we had to take our cases with us on the trek to the bus stop.It was easy to get there and we only had to pay for a single journey to the village this time as we would eventually be going on to the airport. I woke up feeling really sick so we found some chips and chicken rockets to eat for lunch in the little cafe in the village. We did look at the pizzeria, but their speciality was reindeer, and again we weren’t keen on eating Rudolph. Still, lunch was sufficient enough for now so we went back out exploring. In Santa’s post office there were postcards stamped with their official stamp so we purchased some and wrote them to send home. You could send them now or for them to arrive at Christmas. They sold different stamps to stick on and then they’d get franked with the Arctic Circle frank and sent on their way back to England. They also had forms to fill out that you could get someone back home a letter from Santa. We did a couple of these and they’re really good!Despite already wandering around this beautiful part of the town, it was still just as good the second time. The sky was bluer this time which really made the buildings ‘pop.’I can only imagine how beautiful it would look covered in snow. The only things missing were a mulled wine and got chocolate stand. We were able to leave our luggage in Santa’s Office. It cost €13 for both our cases to be stored for the day, which is a little steep, however we didn’t want to lug them round. We dipped in and out of the souvenir shops and even got a certificate to say we had crossed the Arctic Circle. This is a great place for kids and adults! We went back into the places we’ve visited before hand but slowly sauntered round, admiring the true beauty and magic of Christmas! The elves were hard at work ensuring everyone would receive their Christmas wishes! The shops were amazing with the colleagues dressing up in elf related attire! There are even different stamps for each place you go! I fell in love with the place! Only downside? No snow 😩…We got back to the main station and sat waiting for the bus. The bus ticket we used to get into town was able to be used to get us back to the airport for free! The downside was that it then led to a very long wait at the airport with next to nothing open…We got to the airport, waited for a few hours, treated ourselves to a beer and wine (way more expensive than in the town!!), and waited for our plane to arrive to take us home…The airport was rather pretty at night with reindeer lit up against the dark sky! Inside was fully festive with Santa and trees everywhere (I say everywhere, a very small airport!) and it wasn’t long before we were on the plane to fly home….Best part??! Getting a stamp from the Arctic Circle in my passport…

Until next time…
